The capabilities of Anthroids vary significantly from model to model, and even within model lines. Kitty and Heather can change some minor details like hair color, and retain eye color as opposed to it being a reflection of their status light. (Logo color)
She can not change her overall shape, just hair coloration and to a certain amount hair styling though that is somewhat limited.
Kitty can utilize a dimensional pocket, though that is a quirk of her background. Most anthroids can not, though nobody is too surprised since G-Tech Flat Storage gained commercial popularity, people assume it is just an aftermarket modification. (In fact her ability is what inspired G to invent his storage system.)
Is there any way I can read about all this info? As far as I know, in the current Kitty comic there hadn’t been any G-Tech Flat Storage introduced as of yet, and of possible I’d love to read up on it.
Most of this comes out of Hey Fox, but that’s not really a great answer. HF is a very different comic, and the little bits and pieces that are relevant are spread out over more than a decades worth of posts.
Originally Hey Kitty was more of a spin-off. We are currently working on rebuilding chapter 1 with more of a prelude, so everything is contained within Hey Kitty. (So hey! Join the Patreon for more commentary and insights, but also to help speed up the process!) lol
I’m also looking into sharing some short-stories as supporting material. ^.^
Back in the first actual appearance of Heather, http://heykittycomic.com/?comic=twinsies
She was able to change her appearance at will. Kitty has shown to do that with get hair colour as well, along with her clothes(?).
The anthroids can open and utilize pocket dimension type spaces, but can they change their appearances that easily?
I’m loving this realistic representation of a sex worker.
The real world media would rather depict them all as twisted jack-off fantasies of helpless women enslaved by evil pimps, chained to radiators, fed drugs to keep them docile, and mentally incapable of making any decisions or choices of their own.
Cop/media thinking: “Single mother chooses to make a nearly 6-figure income working 10 hours a week going on dates with well-off gentlemen? Clearly that 18 year old son she’s putting through college is secretly her evil pimp controlling her, based on our belief that no woman is smart enough to decide more money for less time is better than flipping burgers for minimum wage! Let’s arrest them both! Pull the kid right out of class in front of all his peers so even when the ridiculous charges don’t stick, the college’s administration will throw him out to preserve their reputation!”
Why the hell do we need to go to a comic about anthropomorphic robot furries for REALISM?
To be fair, this is still a fairly fantastical representation of her sex work. This is a world where sexual violence is less common, and gender rolls are less culturally ingrained, so there are a number of barriers that she does not deal with.
That said, part of the point of genera fiction (Science Fiction, Fantasy, Etc) is to be able to address real world issues without the familiar context in which (many) people (tend to) pre-judge them. This shift in perspective can allow us to be more honest than we might otherwise be allowed…
In our world, violence against sex workers, including rape, robbery, and murder, is VASTLY more common at the hands of police than any of the clients she can screen and only see if she approves of them, nor is ever obligated to see twice if she doesn’t.
You don’t ever see them avoiding their clients and running into the arms of police, do you? They know which direction danger comes from.
Anthroid (Cat-bot): Kitty, currently running Snow Leopard, is a Artificial Life-simulating Construct from the Pear computer company, though there’s something a little odd about her.
Idk what she might be shocked of, that Heather is an escort, for lack of a better word, or that she thinks she and fox did it
But I thought that when Kitty first ran into her, she changed her appearance to look like Kitty? Like as if she could shape shift almost.
